Scenes Out The Window From A Train is the song featured in Working Class Hussys Music Vlog episode #11.
Scenes out the window from a train;
cars in junkyards melt in the rain,
clothes on the line hang in backyards,
snapshots in real time as we are.
And I smile every time I go by
these scenes out the window from a train
time and again. It's like seeing old friends
who say hi 'til we go our seperate ways.
Street-writer's tags on crumbling walls
of factories about to fall
from time, neglect, and wrecking balls,
to jack the rents and build more malls.
But I have to cry just a little bit deep inside
at the loss of my country's former pride,
as towns wave goodbye to the smoke-stacked skylines
where their jobs and their neighborhoods have died.
Now I'm passing by these old, familiar sights
that I've come to admire in a way.
But few recognize the downside of gentrifying
the natural beauty in decay.
So now one more child will watch this movie-slide
going by, but it just won't look the same.
Our past seels and binds strong emotional ties
to these scenes out the window from a train.
Will they be there when we go by again?
The one-way dead-ends are like my old friends.
